Artist Inspired by the Aesthetics of Edo
Fabric Painter / Artist
For over 30 years, Koubou Fuuka has been creating original hand-painted textile art in Tokyo, Japan.
She operated the handmade select shop Koubou Fuuka in Nishi-Ogikubo, Tokyo, for 17 years.
Today, she continues her work as an artist,
holding solo exhibitions and exhibiting at department stores and galleries throughout Japan.
Each piece is painted entirely freehand, without preliminary sketches,
primarily on luxurious silk and linen.
Every work is one of a kind, reflecting both the refined aesthetics of Japan
and the spirit of traditional craftsmanship.
Her silk scarves drape with the lightness and elegance of a celestial robe,
while each folding fan is meticulously hand-painted on 100% silk with bamboo,
honoring the natural beauty of these timeless materials.
Designed to complement both traditional kimono and contemporary fashion,
her works bring a quiet sense of elegance to everyday life.
She also hosts solo exhibitions at Gallery Stella, the gallery she owns and curates in Tokyo.
Each creation is made with the hope of bringing a touch of Japanese beauty and tranquility
into everyday life.
